Big Steps on Lepe Beach

Lepe Beach is situated at the mouth of Southampton Water overlooking the Isle of Wight. It is one of those locations steeped in history with deep connections to the D-Day story of 1944. Remnants off the reinforced concrete ramps that huge tanks trundled along to board landing craft are still on the beach.

Steve reveals some of the forgotten stories that connect Lepe to the liberation of Europe and the huge resonance it has with the rescue mission of Jesus that culminated at the cross.

Lepe was also where crucial sections of the artificial 'Mulberry Harbours' were built before being towed in secrecy to Normandy immediately after the D-Day Landings. The remains of the building site is still there.
